Wishing upon a lantern

Jiufen and Pinxi, two charming, old-world destinations just a short train-ride away from Taipei. The old-town atmosphere took us back in time as we dined in local restaurants and sipped tea in traditional teahouses. We arrived in the mountains by gondola lifts, capturing a stunning coastal view.

Jiufen has an amazing view over the northeast coast of Taiwan, while Pingxi charmed us with its Pingxi Branch Railways. This place is also world famous for the annual Sky Lantern Festival where thousands of people gather to release their paper lanterns into the sky with all their written wishes and prayers.

I feel very lucky to have experienced Taiwan. And the sky lanterns really made the trip! (I can feel those dreams coming true...) This was my first oversea travel since coming to China and I couldn't wish for a better kick-off. Thank you, Sadia for being the realest. I'm so excited for our reunion in July.
