Ireland and Northern Ireland were two of the countries that topped my bucket-list for 2015. My initial plan was to make Dublin my first "solo-travel"-destination for several reasons, but it turned out to be a good weekend-trip to visit some friends, followed by a day in Belfast instead.
Flying to Ireland from Edinburgh was so cheap. If I remember correctly I booked my flights with Ryanair for less than £30 return. Since we were staying at our friends' houses, the only additional costs were for food and drinks. And that is what I love about knowing different people from around the world, because it makes frequent travelling so affordable! Not to mention you get to explore the cities like a local, and go places you wouldn't know to go otherwise. I probably would never get to hike the cliffs of Howth, for example, which was a beautiful experience.
